Sando Shack

Highly anticipated spot for me… I was really really counting on some authentic Japanese food after visiting Japan earlier this year. Mostly I wanted the soft bread.. so I was slightly disappointed when we got our sandwiches and they appeared relatively average American looking sandwiches. There are rice bowls also available. The flavor was very good and was satisfied with the meal overall, but just not the caliber we found in Japan. They always seem to be busy which makes Me happy, I’m glad they are finding success. they are in a perfect spot right on the corner. Overall, glad they are there! Excited to try again.. atmosphere was bustling !

Sando is a fun idea that is largely a mixed bag of quality. The bowels are well worth your time and money deliving a richer flavor than many other similar options as well as Blk Mkt in the same plaza. The Sando side of the equation though is a flat flavor on cheap Texas toast. They really need to reconstruct the flavor/value balance with the sandwiches. The Taiyaki and ice cream desserts are mid, not the worst in the area but not the best either. Largely skippable. The service is kind and no complaints but the decor is almost the same as the Boardwalk Ice Cream parlor that was the previous tenant but with less lighting. I wish them well but if the offerings don't get better this might be yet another short lived restaurant in this corner location.

First time to try Sando Shack. We had rice bowls. Not really impressed. The rice was cooked with too much water almost at solid paste consistency and there's too much teriyaki sauce that i couldn't taste anything else. We checked out the sandos, all deep fried. I guess I'm expecting more healthy food choices like the Japanese do. Maybe I'll try again in the future

St. Louis is lucky to have this spot. Food is delicious and inventive, the fries are amazing, and the service is friendly. Cool atmosphere too. Definitely coming back!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Loved the chicken katsu sandwich! And the fries were very crispy, perfect.
