One of the best collections of local history I've ever experienced. The South Cumberland and Grundy County area is full of historical significance. Make sure you stop in and take a tour.

★★★★★ 5.0 Rodger Castleberry · May 2022

Most excellent home for preservation of history of Grundy County, its early days and settlers / founders, driving industry and connections to Tennessee Coal & Iron Company, a key asset, later, of its major competitor, United States Steel Giant. The nearby Swiss Colony of Gruetli-Laager is well represented and covers original families and those few members whose forebears founded it in 1869, who remain prominent even today. If Tennessee history is in your blood, drop by and get a bountiful transfusion.

The Grundy County Historical Society has a very knowledgeable staff, invested in the community, and goes out of their way to take the time to answer questions posed by visitors. Just based on a first visit I will return and will consider membership in the affirmative when I am first able to join. Wonderful!

The Heritage Center is one of the most important places in Tennessee because it is the only place to learn about Highlander Folk School and the incredible impact Myles Horton and his colleagues had on the entire nation from a small corner in a poor county in Tennessee.

A wonderful library and museum with an informed and helpful staff and volunteers. They were most helpful in helping me to research family history.
