Greendale Public Library

I am writing to formally report a concerning experience I had at the Greendale Public Library on October 15, 2025. My experience raises serious concerns regarding customer service and equitable treatment of patrons. Upon arriving to print documents, I discovered that my library card was no longer valid. I was assisted by Lisa, who demonstrated courteous and professional service. She informed me that I would need to speak with Nancy to obtain a new card. During my interaction with Nancy, her demeanor was dismissive and unhelpful. After I provided my driver’s license, she questioned whether I still resided in Greenfield, WI, despite my clear confirmation. I felt singled out and unwelcome. It's a great library and the inside of the library is very nice!! Some of the employees can be a little bit mean and may have some unreasonable warnings that they give out... but overall, it's a great library, and I enjoy staying there sometimes and looking at the amazing books they have!!

My study group for community college met here for a while. Awesome place. We were there for about a year and a half, began in the summer and we went until the winter of the next year so... 6 seasons? We want to get back and watch a movie together at some point, but we'll see.

I always like going to this library. The librarians are helpful and nice. They usually have the books I'm looking for (or they're easy to request). The internet access is excellent.

Sometimes I go there in the afternoon with just my phone and computer. Usually I'll sit there and chill on my phone with the volume down just so I can hear it but apparently not. Somebody comes up to me and asks " can you turn down the volume or get some earbuds" I don't have earbuds or headphones I just came down frome school and I don't pack headphones so I turn the volume down but then I can't hear it so I turn it back up. She comes back even more furious than before and she says " TURN. THE VOLUME DOWN OR GET SOME EARBUDS OR I'M KICKING YOU OUT" Firstly I'm not hurting anybody and secondly there are other people being obnoxious so why is she worrying about me Thank you for reading this hopefully you have a good day and I hoped this helped.
