Gilshar Greek Cafe

Gilshar Greek Cafe is a local favorite in Port Jefferson Station, NY. The restaurant offers a pleasant dining environment inside Port Plaza, with well-arranged tables and greenery that create a relaxing vibe. Service was quick and friendly. I tried the Lamb Gyro Combo with fries and Greek salad. The salad was fresh and traditional, albeit missing red onion and oregano. The French fries were simply seasoned with Greek spices, but the lamb gyro was fantastic, generously sized and packed with flavorful, rotisserie-cooked lamb. Overall, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are great. I’ll definitely come back!

I ordered a salad from Gilshar and had a terrible experience. The pita bread had a hair in it, and as I started mixing my salad (with the dressing still unopened), I found another hair inside. I contacted the restaurant and sent them clear video proof showing that nothing had been touched. Despite this, the owner claimed the hair “must be mine” and refused to issue a refund. I even offered to bring the food back. The cashier hung up on me during the call, and afterward they stopped answering completely. Extremely unprofessional and unsanitary. I will not be ordering from here again.

My family and I eat here 1 to 2 times a week! The food is always fresh and delicious, the staff is friendly and welcoming. We have tried just about everything on the menu and never a disappointment. I happen to live in port Jefferson but I have family members in Smithtown and Hauppague that drive out for food. It’s BYOB but there is a BIG liquor store a few doors over in the shopping center if you wanted something adult to drink. It’s also very clean. Highly recommended

The food was good. The salad was great! The lemonade was delicious. I ordered a spinach pie type meal and had to pay for tzatziki sauce. It was a little hot inside. We WILL be going back:)

Always consistent meal. Good portions. Priced reasonably Service is extremely attentive. Simple decor.
