Gilbertson's Lazy Horse Retrt

Stayed February 2026 and stayed in the Rancher Cabin. It was wonderful. The cabin is very clean and cozy. The hostess, Melody, has equipped the cabin with everything you would need. With added touches like a welcome packet and It was close to Valentine’s Day so she had A few areas with valentine décor, which was an adorable touch. The View from the covered porch was breathtaking. The neighborhood is very quiet And relaxing. Not a lot of traffic at all, but close enough to town to meet all our needs. My husband and his friend brought their horses to ride the trails in the Smokies. Melody once again went above and beyond with her accommodations and helpfulness. The stalls and paddocks were clean and very well maintained. We definitely look forward to coming back.

My husband and I stayed at the Lazy Horse Retreat for my birthday and really enjoyed it. We brought our horses and stayed in the Cowboy Cabin. Melody makes you feel right at home! We enjoyed a nice trail ride through the smokies. When we weren’t riding, we were sitting outside on the front porch swing. We felt so relaxed the whole time we stayed. Even took a nap! I made dinner one night in the cabin and another day we ate at Apple Valley Restaurant which is just in town. Really good food! We would totally recommend Melody’s place to stay anytime!

I used to come to Lazy Horse Retreat to ride and we'd bring our horses, with no issues getting trailers in. And yrs. later, my family still brings me! I'm a quadriplegic now, after an accident being hit by a concrete truck. My caregivers and I stay in the rancher. Even though the bathroom isn't handicap accessible, Melody accommodated us and we've had a wonderful time. We've been coming here for years now and you won't be disappointed in the Lazy Horse Retreat!

We spent a week in the Treehouse cabin and loved it. It's peaceful, secluded, and with it own private deck. The rooms were clean well appointed and made us feel like we were right at home. Melody is a great hostess and treated us like family. Do not hesitate to make a trip here, you won't be sorry.

We’ve been coming to Gilbertson’s almost every year for the past 15 years. We love bringing our horses in the fall. Melody is so gracious! The cabins are simple but cozy and very clean. I’m not sure what the person in the previous review is talking about. We have a 3 horse slant with living quarters and there’s plenty of room for parking. Many times we’ve been there with 4 or 5 other trailers with no problems. One of our favorite rides is leaving straight out of Gilbertson’s to Schoolhouse Gap trail. We always ride that the first day. The views from our cabin are amazing!
