Galitos BBQ Portuguese Restaurant

Coming from Union/Maplewood area, I have eaten a lot of Portuguese BBQ. This place is legit! So far I've only had the pork ribs and the chicken but both slam hard! If you know then you know and if you don't, then try it with an open mind. This is my second time ordering in week. The veggies and beans are awesome. The fries are typical, soggy when doing take out. Not horrible. Try it all and support this place. Throw some hot sauce on those ribs and chicken and you're in heaven. Don't forget the shrimp in garlic sauce with plenty of bread and treat yourself to a Sumol!

Upon walking up to the restaurant, the aroma of a hardwood barbecue took me right back to Portugal!! This is an amazing restaurant!! I had the chicken & rib combo. Look at those pictures! Beautiful, very tasty, and succulent portions!! I told the manager I was diabetic and they substituted the rice and fries for veggies. Very accommodating!! I met the owner. Turns out he is a successful restaurateur. He has a few of these type Portuguese barbecue restaurants. He has a passion for it and you can hear it when he talks about his establishments. I enjoyed very much my conversation with him. I will 100% be back and I have a 45 minute drive to get there!!

What a fantastic place. Brand new, fantastic food Stephanie and I tried a new place today in Hazlet, Galitos portugrse real wood bbq, fantastic and amazing food and clean, nice people and amazing food steph got secreto sandwich and i got the ribs. I posted menu, great prices i had the 1/2 portion of the mixed grill. And we have tons of leftovers. Really first rate 10 stars

Hands down this is the place to go for traditional Portuguese bbq which is sorely lacking in CNJ. Everything to the chicken, beef ribs, pork ribs, fries, beans, and especially the garlic shrimp is amazing. And to add the icing to the cake….they carry Sumol. Apologizes for half eaten food pictures but it will give the scope of how much food you get as 4 people are filled from it.

Food was fantastic. Ordered take out on their opening day and everything was GREAT.
