Funky Java Coffee House

Wish I could have stuck around and enjoyed the moment in this disheveled strip mall coffee shop! I was surprised with the high reviews, first glance shows old and worn out, a small basic menu, curious music hall in the back certain to blast the ears, and compared to the modern mainstream reformed hipster java joint, this is the opposite. With a second glance quickly realized the one man band barista is friendly and threw together a funky mocha quickly and for much less than other Chicago area caffeine cups cost! I had a good sip on my way home despite a lot of ice getting stuck in the straw. He suggested I try the almond dessert buns next door so I did. Also a big win!

Awesome place. The owner is a really nice guy to talk to. Atmosphere is chill, with great hospitality. Espresso is smooth with a taste of sweetness. Pricing is really cheap. I paid under $3. Overall would love to come back here.

Last Thursday after exiting the doctors office nearby I entered this coffee shop to just buy a coffee to go. This is exactly how the conversation went. I asked the guy for a coffee with a little milk and Splenda. Excuse me but I am used to the packet’s not in a glass sugar jar. So I tried to catch him thinking this was regular sugar and he puts the glass container right in my face. He said you see this says Splenda. I have been making coffee for over 30 years. I did not respond even though I have terrible back pain. He then continued and continued to tell me that I was very pushy. Not once but several times. I did not respond even though I wanted to but I did turn around and walk away. I am not from this area, in fact not from this state. I’m sorry when this guy guy says I have been doing

THE BEST IN THE BURBS! Larry is the best ever! Everyone feels like a million bucks after they talk to this upbeat and happy guy! So positive and encouraging even in a short interaction like getting a cup o joe! Best ever

Mom & Pop small business purveyor Larry was a delight this morning when he served me up a Chilled Mocha Latte with my next door Kuppie's Bakery Donuts. Felt like an Andy Griffith experience. I will be back!
