Best BBQ in Georgia for Decades!! Atmosphere, Grill/smoker inside! Rooms are smoke filled! Outstanding aroma from the time you open the car door!

Absolutely love this place. You smell the smoke from the pit as you walk through the door. There are wood chips on the ground outside & the whole atmosphere just sets it off... The staff is super friendly & the barbecue & Brunswick stew are absolutely the best....

We were a ROWDY bunch at this place. They handled it with grace and kindness. We love Southern Pit!

One of if not the best BBQ eateries in Georgia, located just south of Jackson. The only BBQ sold is pork and it comes with a vinegar-based sauce which is very good! I always get the “Special” which is two sandwiches, chips and a drink. Their sweet tea is really good. It’s great that old BBQ establishments like this one are still around! I’ve seen a lot of long-running BBQ companies go under in the last 10-15 years. Dean’s BBQ in Jonesboro was one of them. Stop by and have a taste of history, you’ll be glad ya did! Enjoy!

Exactly what I'd expect from a roadside BBQ stand in Georgia. Better than most. Staff were very friendly & polite even though they were slammed. Excellent meat & price. Very clean. Good Brunswick stew. It's not my favorite (I prefer a bit of corn & tomato), but it's good enough that I took a "to go" container. I live 70 miles from fresh air, so I won't be back anytime soon, but I'll be back for sure.
