Fred's Shanty Restaurant

We ordered the veggie lovers pizza. It was delicious and I’m a snobby pizza critic from New York (LOL). Amazing view. Parking is tight but nice to have it. Only downside, it needs a big-time cleaning from the outside, at least. Bathroom is accessible but also needs a big sprucing up.

We love Fred's and stop 2 to 3 times a season. The food is so delicious y the prices are still decent but on this last visit. We got there immediately when they opened. We ordered our food and looked for a table. They were all sticky and had puddles. We found one on the side but when my husband touched his leg he realized his brand new shorts were covered in ketchup and mustard. Our hot dogs and fries were great they just need to take a little more time before opening to prepare. Thanks for another great season!

4 stars are mainly for the Hot Lobster Roll which was one of the best ever!! But then the rest kind of falls flat. Whole belly clams were cold, rubbery and more like mini whole belly clams. Thin fries are ok, but again lukewarm. Coconut Shrimp is ok. Great location on the water with easy picnic table seating. Zero stars for all the BEES. Would not return because of the bees flying around.

Absolutely delicious! I got the Scallop Dinner and the Scallops were fresh, hot, huge, juicy, and tasty. Fries were also good and Cole Slaw was good too. Im so happy they included that and the tartar sauce without me even having to ask. I got it to go and everything was in the bag. Today was my first time at Freds. I cant believe I never stopped here in all these years! Definitely will be back to try more of the menu soon!

I am starting this with a side note. Once in a while, you are served by someone outstanding. Someone who loves their job and is truly great at it. Today, for me, this was Parker. Super personable and super helpful. A definite people person who can immediately build a rapport with the customers. This is only my second or third trip to Fred's. The last time was probably 25 years ago. It was a bit of a drive from Hartford, but I am so glad I made the trip. If you have never been, you HAVE to go. The food, service, and location are all fantastic. As you can see in the photos, there is a good variety of food options, and it overlooks the docks. Coincidentally, they have MONDAY LUNCH SPECIALS, so my burger, fries, and small beverage was only $8 and some change! Therefore, I followed
