Ford's Fish Shack Lansdowne

This place lands in my top 5 places to eat. Our first time here and I don't have the vocabulary to describe how great the experience was. Food, atmosphere and service were all top notch. The quantity was large and the dessert was indescribably delicious. More than one can eat, but I did. They did forget our corn muffins, but that turned out to be a bonus as we probably couldn't have got dessert.

I’ve heard so many positive things about Ford’s over the years and recently got a chance to give them a try for a business lunch. They weren’t busy just after noon when we got there, so we were quickly seated. The menu is large, with so many options it was hard to choose. I asked the server what he recommended and pretty much went with that. He said the clam chowder and the fish & chips were popular – so that’s what I ordered. The clam chowder was pretty good! Not the best I’ve had – that would be Abe & Louie’s or Bank’s, both in Boston. But it was very nice and it most definitely scratched the it for traditional Boston clam chowder! We came in on a Wednesday evening for dinner. The restaurant was only about 1/4 full. The service was incredibly slow. It was more than an hour before we got our food. The food was great and our waiter was nice and answered any questions that we had. I'm not sure if we would go to this location of Ford's Fish Shack because of the extreme wait.

Unfortunately, my family had a very negative experience at Ford’s. Our family of four ordered medium-well salmon for Sunday lunch. My salmon arrived raw in the middle, and two other salmons arrived undercooked. Our waiter apologized immediately and took our plates back to the kitchen. Then, the manager, Paula, came to our table to explain to us that we should expect some translucency if we ordered medium. (We ordered medium -well.) She didn’t apologize or seem at all concerned, as if we were in the wrong. She was argumentative and unhelpful, unkind, and not in any way customer service oriented. We found her approach to be completely unprofessional. Our food arrived later after being reheated and the salmon was charred/burnt. One positive was that a server, Chris, was kind and professional

The food was what you would expect from an American style seafood spot. The restaurant is kind of a beach like vibe. Booth seats. Nothing fancy. Crab cakes were small but surprisingly had a great taste! Calamari and Rocket shrimp could use more sauce. Service was good. Staff greeted us and were very friendly. No complaints there. Oh and the food came out super quick and was hot and still tasted fresh. I would certainly come back if I wanted a quick decent seafood meal. No complaints and enjoyed it.
