Fish Shack

I was really looking forward to trying The Fish Shack in Lighthouse Point, but unfortunately it was disappointing. It lacked seasoning and flavor, and for the prices they charge, I expected much better. There was also an odd message written on the restroom wall that didn’t feel appropriate. The only bright spot was our waitress — she was friendly, and did her best to provide great service. I truly appreciate her effort, but overall the food just didn’t live up to expectations.

Was on our way to another seafood stop in Lighthouse Point and decide to drop in here instead, and we were glad. The food is fresh and well prepared. Tsmoked fish dip was superb, and when we ordered the conch fritters, the server suggested fried conch instead and described how they prepared it. Pro tip: listen to the servers! The conch was tender and perfectly deep fried, with a great dipping sauce. We continued with the fish and chips and the grilled combo prepared Cajun style - both excellent. The sides included a coleslaw that was the perfect blend of creamy and tangy, a crisp and fresh cucumber salad and the carrot - a special side of the day. The food and drinks are spot on at the Fish Shack. I got the fried oysters for starters and they were perfectly breaded and crispy. Then I got the blackened Mahi Mahi which was one of the fish of the day and it was very tasty. The service was attentive. But they also have the best key lime pie. Highly recommend. Heck, I'd go there just for the pie!

My husband is not a seafood person, but he absolutely loved this place so that says a ton. We took our two and a half year old here at about 8pm, there was a wait but the staff was incredibly accommodating (we were on vacation). I ordered the hot lobster roll for dinner, while it was good I felt that the portion was rather small. Otherwise great, thank you!

The food here is delicious! We got the grilled combo plate that included scallops, shrimp, and Mahi. It also comes with two sides. We both got fries and also the cucumber salad and the carrots. I would have given this place 5 stars but we felt like the quantity of food was on the light side … especially the fries. It comes in a small bowl that was not filled up all the way. For $32 a plate, we just expected a bit more food. The staff was kind. The atmosphere was a classic seafood joint. There is a wait though. Be prepared for that. We waited 20 minutes but when we left there were a lot of people outside and they probably waited longer.
