I haven't even been here yet, and I already know that I'm going to have a five-star experience. The Pittsburgh poetry exchange moved its open mic night from the south side to this spot. Carrick is the perfect place for gritty, real, blood and guts poetry. I can't wait to actually check the venue out in February and give more than just a pipe dream review.

Beautiful book store, positive vibes, World Peace through art, education and understanding — and good coffee to boot!! The owner is kind and engaging author in his own right, a lovely, quiet and supportive space for lovers and readers and musicians alike : two TUNED pianos, multiple guitars to pick up and strum at anytime. Open mics every Friday; wife and kids and I stayed at Owner's deluxe & spacious urban B&B upstairs in November; shared a memorable exchange of histories, loves, and music; open discussion was always encouraged as we enjoyed a safe, open and peaceful discourse, and felt the gift of kinship was offered to every customer and passerby in equal measure. This is Pittsburghs best kept secret! Highly recommended for anyone who loves music, playing it and listening to. A great community and budding network of musicians, entrepreneurs, writers, etc.. i really love the open mic on Friday nights!
