If you're trying to decide whether to eat here, just do it. I have very high standards for bread and pastry, and Jak's is way up there. Also, I have a child who is very hard to please (ARFID) and they declared the kremka, a vanilla cream-filled bread, to be "way better than birthday cake". It has the perfect amount of sweetness, and the dough is so tender. Visually very pleasing as well. All 3 of us kind of fought over it - next time, we'll have to get more! I loved the vita banitsa and cinnamon sugar kifla, too. The banitsa dough was great - a yeasted phyllo, so more delicate rather than crispy. The banitsa has a nice layer of caramelized sugar on the bottom and just a bit of bouncy chewiness. Absolutely one of the best bakeries we have - I'll be back, and often! This time we did get de
Some of the best pastries I’ve ever had! Jak’s has an truly incredible selection. It was so hard to choose what to try that we had to come back the next day 😂 Everything was delicious and unique, and such a sweet atmosphere. I’m going to be dreaming of the pumpkin banitsa for a long time. Thank you for making and sharing such wonderful food!
I've been following this bakery on social media for years (I don't even remember why since it's nowhere near my home) but I'd never had the chance to try it. I finally made it and I wasn't disappointed. The worst part was trying to decide what to get. We finally picked out a slice of peach cake and a couple savory items (I don't remember the names) and they were all delicious. We talked with the owner for a few minutes and he was very friendly and was obviously excited about his product and a joy to speak with. Go early before they sell out!
I visited Jak’s Bakery it was a cozy spot where you can enjoy authentic Bulgarian pastries and treats. It offers traditional items like banitsa, a flaky pastry made with cheese and eggs. The bakery is known for using authentic ingredients and traditional recipes, bringing a taste of Bulgaria to Pittsburgh. Perfect for anyone wanting to try something new or enjoy a slice of Bulgaria in the city.
I randomly stumbled upon this bakery and it was my highlight on a day trip to Pittsburgh. As a native Bulgarian it was a treat to see pastries from my homeland. Even better that they both incredibly tasty and authenticly delicious . 100% recommend for both sweet and savory delights.
