I went to use their computer to blow off some steam. After I'd finished using the computer, I looked around for a couch to rest my bad back, since I had walked to the library. While there were chairs with tables attached to them, there was no couch-type seat for me to rest easy on except in the "teen" area. I sit down and try to relax as I was having back spasms from walking. They were playing ocean sounds, so I lay down on the couch to meditate while the back spasms were going on. I must've fallen asleep, because the next thing I know, I'm sharply awoken and told I can't sleep in the library. I promptly apologized, as falling asleep was not my intent. The ocean sounds were really, very relaxing. She then says it's the "teen area," and only teens were allowed in that area of the library. W

A fantastic library that has done a great job recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly & helpful staff. Any Texas resident can receive a library card for free & nonresidents of Texas can receive one for $10.

ETA: So many good hearted folks have donated books to the library, they are asking that we hold off on donations for the time being. If you're inclined to help, they would probably welcome those of us fluent in Dewey Decimal or shelf building. If you can't make it to Port A, please donate your time or money or visit your local library!
