Last month I made a pilgrimage to the Eldredge Public Library in Chatham. The library staff was very nice, helpful & happy to answer any & all questions I had. The Genealogy section, (the reason for my visit) is AMAZING! They have limited space, but their collection's very complete. I was able to hold in my hands a few volumes I've search for decades' trying to find. If you have family with roots on Cape Cod, and a passion for genealogy, I recommend stopping in... I'm sure you'll be glad you did!

When people ask my 6 year old her favorite place on the Cape, she says, “The library!” (And she means this one). Absolutely incredible children’s section with a dramatic play area that changes in theme every few months, dress up clothes, coloring, fish, a train set, and scavenger hunt complete with prizes. We just tried out their storytime/playtime for the first time and it was also great. We especially love Meghan the librarian, but everyone we’ve met here is wonderful!

This is my favorite library on Cape Cod. The building is gorgeous and historical. The book selection is varied and large. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Plus they have a bin where you can take and leave magazines and they have special free book areas, and also a book sale going all the time in the basement. Parking can be a little hard in summer but Chatham is a lovely place so a short walk is quite enjoyable. Highly recommend this library!

NOT KID FRIENDLY. Extremely rude and unaccommodating. I rarely post reviews, but felt I had to for this place. They have a no stroller policy, yet they have a children’s section and children’s event...biggest oxymoron ever. Anyone who has little kids (especially pre-walking) knows how much you use a stroller inside and outside of places. I pack EVERYTHING in my stroller from milk to diaper cream, extra clothes, etc. They do not let strollers in the library. I wanted to take my daughter to an event at the library for her first time in Chatham. I did not want to empty my entire stroller, leave it outside UNATTENDED, carry both my baby and multiple bags all around the library. They must not have kids because anyone who does would know how terrible a policy that truly is. You should

I haven't made it inside, but all I can say is fins to the left.... Fins to the right... A must stop if you are in downtown Chatham.
