My husband and I have passed by this tiny Ecuadorian spot enough times that we promised ourselves we'd finally sate our curiosity and give it a try. Clearly, we weren't the target audience for this store. Whatever signs are up are solely in Spanish, and when my husband had a question about one of the pastries, the lady behind the counter asked hopefully, "Hablas español?" That said, the service is the sweetest. She was so eager to respond to our questions that she pulled out her phone to translate her answers. With cultural unfamiliarity and language barriers in place, my husband and I just poked around and picked a few random things to try. Their food is pretty good but the only thing we didn’t like was how there aren’t any prices displayed. I grew up in a Spanish neighborhood so I know very well when they don’t display prices they’re looking to rip you off. When we walked in, it’s like they knew we were more affluent so they raised the prices on us. I come from Corona, Queens and one platter is merely $10-$15 but the portions they give are huge and this is in NY. This place wanted to charge us $16 for a super small platter. We weren’t going to get ripped off so we ended up only buying a small thing and it was good but didn’t like how shady they do business. A lot of places around do the same thing and it’s not right. If you’re desperate for Spanish food and want to spend the money then I’d come here. ———————————————————————
