El Gallo Mexican Cuisine

I came here for my birthday, it was my first time at El Gallo. The food is NYC style quality, all fresh and delicious! For a storefront bistro, it's welcoming and charming. The service was outstanding and the owner/chef was delightful! I dare say this is the best Mexican fare in the area, and right in my hometown. My birthday was made special by these folks, even tho a very cold and bitter night; they even had a tortilla soup, not listed on menu, to warm us up! We're so glad we stopped in, impromptu for my birthday...I'll definitely be returning soon!

From delicious food to the nicest manager one could hope to encounter, Ray and the team at El Gallo never disappoint. As a Hawthorne local, I do my best to support local businesses and El Gallo is a pleasure every time. My most recent order was for me and friends, and we were all delighted (and had leftovers that reheated wonderfully) with our choices. You can’t go wrong here - and if you’re dining in, it’s just the lovliest place. Thanks for being awesome!! PS - can’t get enough of the rice and refried beans!!! Seriously! 🤤

I came here hungry for just a burrito, but ended up getting a whole different experience! You can tell the chefs put love and effort into the food they make, everything is fresh and tasty! I ended up settling on a chicken quesadilla with a side of refried beans and it definitely hit the spot. And like any authentic Mexican restaurant, they give you fresh chips and salsa once you sit down (always reassures me that I'm not about to be served microwave food!!!) The owner Rey was our host for the evening and you can tell he cares about his business. He's extremely personable and makes sure his guests are happy and taken care of. 10/10 job on his part! Not authentic. Ordered tacos al pastor for takeout and the meat in the tacos was cold. No pineapples in it (al pastor). Overpriced for the quality. Payed for a side of guac and it was literally a chunk of the avocado in the cup (thats not guacamole)
