EJ BBQ Sushi is a true hidden gem in Chelsea. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the authenticity: a beautiful, spotless, welcoming place that feels genuinely local — not touristy — with real Korean-Japanese soul. The owner and chef, David, is absolutely outstanding. He’s from Seoul, and you can tell he brings that deep attention to detail and hospitality into everything he does. He’s incredibly kind, attentive, and makes you feel genuinely taken care of — which is rare in New York these days. And the food… simply impressive. Every dish is perfectly executed, with authentic flavors and an incredible balance. Honestly, eating here feels like taking a flight straight to Asia — the quality and taste are that real. One detail I truly loved: David makes his own soy sauce, and it’s gen
This was the best sushi I’ve ever had. I went with yellowtail sushi and sashimi, salmon sushi, and the spicy tuna avocado roll. All were absolutely perfect. The service was super quick and everything was affordable.
What a wonderful surprise on our last trip to NYC this past Summer! We were searching for quality sushi with great reviews that wouldn’t break the bank, and this place exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we were personally greeted by the owners, who made us feel so welcome. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful fish and beautifully prepared dishes. Truly a memorable experience!
The most amazing sushi! The best unexpected surprise was to stubble upon ej bbq. So authentic and memorable in every way. You must try this spot if you love Japanese/korean food and atmosphere :)
I found this restaurant early this year when I got off work one day, and I come to eat here EVERY week since then. No kidding, I love this place. The food is very authentic, the music here is always a happy surprise to my ear, price is very reasonable, and mostly importantly - I LOVE the owners here! I speaks a little bit of Korean so they were kinda shocked the first time I say hi to them in Korean. But even if you don't speak any of their language, they are always so freaking nice and kind!!! They have a lot of returning customers, they chat with everyone that comes in and treating others like their friends and family. They learned my name the second time I came, and now I have been coming here for about 3 month straight and they are seeing me as their little sister. I will keep visiting
