East Matunuck State Beach

Let’s get the ‘Why four stars?’ out of they ways. On the day that we went (07.29.2025) it was an ocean of red seaweed. We don’t appreciate the red seaweed much, once it got on your swimsuit it is difficult to wash off. We managed to find one spot out of the whole mile long stretch of beach where there is less red seaweed, even so, there was really no escaping from those pesky weeds. The place is beautiful. The sunset is amazing. The facility is clean, clean, clean. Two outdoor cold water showers to your heart content. Men and women bathroom. A row of portable bathroom along the west side of the service building. Unlike other beach in Rhode Island there are no portable bathroom along the sand dunes where the entrance to the beach resides. You can somewhat have your choice of sand. Right

Best beach in RI and closest to downtown Providence. Idyllic New England Beach. Chill vibes. The bathrooms are clean, the food is decent and they have a deck for older or sun sensitive people to sit in the shade as well. Overlooking the ocean. Affordable parking for Rhode Island residents - $7. They have handicap parking spaces and 4 electric vehicle charging stations. ChargePoint.

Absolutely wonderful beach. Although other reviews says you need quarters for showers, there're shower houses outside which are free. When we got out of water closing time was passed, (Showers and Washrooms / Bathroom closed at 5 pm - Lifeguards left at 6 pm) so I did not see the paid locations. But you still have showers outside to cleanup. There are Porta Potty's if you want to use a washroom when everything else is closed. Beach was nice and it was about 4 feet deep for a considerable disgance. So a very nice place for the whole family to have fun!

Super clean with all facilities needed. Hot shower for 75 cents and you can feel fresh. Worth a visit any day and the parking is just $14 so not a problem compared to other beaches where they ask $40

East Matunuck State Beach is absolutely beautiful! Clean sand, clear water, and plenty of space to relax. The facilities are well-maintained, and the views are stunning — especially at sunset. Parking is easy, and the beach has a calm, peaceful vibe. Perfect for a beach day with family, friends, or even solo. Can’t wait to come back!
