East Hanover Diner

It’s the usual type of American diner. The menu is way too long for me but it’s the same for all diners. It doesn’t help to make a quick choice. The waitress came 5 times before I could make a choice. Food is correct and same as the quantity. Service can be improved. We wait a long time to be served. Will probably come back with kids the days when I don’t want to cook.

The Greek Lemon soup was a yellow porridge, with 2 little cubes of chicken, no vegetables at all. Probably out of a can? Lemon flavor was too strong and artificial. So I couldn’t eat it, asked for an Italian panini. I got pita bread, with a huge whole piece of sun-dried tomato that tasted soap. I ate the chicken, that was good.

This place is nice, but it gets super busy there are times when our server did not come back to check on us or we were left without drinks or food for 10 minutes. They served us old mayo, and there is a comparison photo with the yellow mayo being the one from the waiters pocket, and there is a white mayo which was one that I think was kept refrigerated and then when we asked for new mayo, he kept giving us the ones from his pocket and then finally went back to the kitchen and gave us a mayo in a cup, which was still old you can tell they use the expired mayo even in their coleslaw because of how it has a yellow tint to it the food was hot. It was OK.

Went downhill since new owner (John is gone and not ax ship shape anymore) seems to have higher prices now and less on service - no friendliness ! Waitress brought wrong toast and forgot well done potatoes. Fish sandwich had no flavor no coleslaw no lemon & stake roll. When I asked the waitress for tartar sauce, she didn’t know what it was. She came back from the kitchen and said they didn’t have any then she came back when I was almost done eating with tartar sauce, downhill lousy their high star listing must be from the previous owner. $18 fish sandwich

Love this place! The East Hanover Diner has a warm, family-friendly vibe, and the food never disappoints. I had the eggs benedict, and it was delicious. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. Great for a casual meal with excellent service.
