Downtown Local

True to its name, Downtown Local is a sweet little sandwich shop in the heart of scenic Front Royal, Virginia, serving cold and hot sandwiches and the best made-on-the-spot lemonade. The food may be simple, but it's consistently delicious and reflects the name of the establishment perfectly. The ambiance is clean, well-lit, airy and relaxed. I am comfortable sitting in the comfy chairs in the back, listening to a book while I crochet, listening to the music of my childhood (currently an acoustic rendition of Collide). The service is friendly, personable, and familiar. I have felt welcomed each and every time I have come in. Even packed on a Friday afternoon, it feels calm and relaxed. You can't go wrong here.

I came in because I saw a picture of a Reuben in another review and OMG so amazing. It was like a guilt free sandwich because it wasn't heavy and greasy but still packed a ton of flavor This was an amazing find that I will be returning to. A friend of mine grabbed the soup of the day and raved about that as well.

Avoid. Firstly, it is way overpriced for mediocre food. Sandwiches were soggy despite eating right after being made. And not much on it for $14 a sandwich. But the main problem was one of the workers (the owner perhaps) had seemingly coughed up a loogie in the back and then proceeded to make our food with only one glove on and without washing his hands. We were all disgusted by this blatant public health violation

Excellent sandwiches, soup, and lemonade. Prices are slightly higher than your average deli, but you can tell you're paying for premium ingredients. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, good portion sizes.

Downtown Local has easily become one of our favorite restaurants in town! They've been so accommodating for large party orders, have created yummy breakfast and lunch sammies that hit the spot, and have such a light and fun atmosphere! Absolutely worth the stop!
