De Forest Public Library

Unwelcoming, uncomfortable, no quiet public space, bad Wi-Fi, staff stares like you don't belong, neglected children running around like it's a park, the only reason I visit is because they're open on Sundays. Again I have to emphasize that there's NO quiet public space. The checkout is loud repetitive dinging and sounds reverberate so you can hear every conversation and running kid. Impossible to read a book here. This should be a standard for libraries.

My family loves this library! They always have great activities in the create space in the East entrance. The staff is generally very welcoming and helpful. They don't always have specific books I'm looking for, but linkcat online makes it really easy to order books and they are usually available for pickup within the week. They also have tons of activities for kids of all ages and for adults throughout the week - we love Ms Emily at tiny tot time and storytime! I've also found some unexpected goodies here, like holiday cake pans and rental STEM sets.

The weather was snowy but the library was open! Great way to get kids out of the house before the inches piled up...they can go build a snowman now after reading and playing! Thanks for being open this a.m. while still putting safety first for your team and closing early this afternoon! We'll be back! 😊

What an amazing library. They are incredibly friendly and helpful. They have tons of things I never expected a library to have. You want yard games? BOOM!!! They got it. Need to make a cake shaped like Elmo or a dinosaur? BOOM!!! They have a cake pan for you. Looking for a board game to play for a game night with friends? BOOM! They have that too. I cannot say enough kind things about this library.

I love how much they have for the kids! My daughter loves the Anime and Magna Club and have found friends with similar interests through there!
