I've walked by this place for a while but finally got a chance to check it out tonight and I got to say I really enjoyed it. The service was very friendly and attentive and incredibly quick. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. I got a glass of wine and some oysters. The West Coast oysters were unlike anything I had have ever eaten. They were very creamy and the East Coast oysters were very salty and meaty but like in a really nice way. I would definitely come back here. I also got some food to try and it was all really great. I do highly recommend this awesome bar!
The Japanese draft at this dive bar is proof that you don’t need a degree in mixology to enjoy a drink. It’s a beer that doesn't try to be 'artisanal' or 'infused' with anything—it’s just beer. Because it’s on tap, you skip that weird preservative aftertaste, and they serve it in a mug so cold it could give you a brain freeze. Pure bliss. And yeah to happy hours prices
I was a bit ambivalent upon walking in, the bar gives a very midwest vibe, of course with a Japanese flare. Happy hour pricing was great and I was honestly shocked with how good the food was. Oysters were great and so were the donburi bowls. The service was pretty bad, but it seemed like only a few people were working in a full bar. They have a pool table in the back !
A wonderful secret gem for fantastic Japanese food. Perfect place for a date night or friends group hangout. The drink menu (various sakes and beers and a decent selection of cocktails) was well priced. The ambiance is like a dive bar but don’t let that fool you! The Japanese food served is some of the best in Manhattan. The gyu donburi (angus beef rice bowl) was honestly incredible. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The garlic rock shrimp was also very delicious.
Happy hour starts at 1 pm. I had the sangria which was delicious, refreshing, and not too sweet. I got the tuna tartar appetizer and it was delicious. Great service too.
