Damascus Public Library

very knowledgeable and helpful staff, probably one of the few libraries on the Appalachian trail, recommend visiting when in town, also a special thanks to Stephanie for helping us locate some of our favorite movies

This is a neat little library. The employees are super friendly, helpful, and patient with children. We can order books from other area libraries if something isn't in stock and have it shipped to this location. The summer activities are a pleasant bonus as well. For example, owls are the subject matter this week, and they are sending kids home with owl pellets for dissection. We think ours ate a mouse :o

Single room structure with a modest collection of books. My biggest objection is that the head librarian treats the library as her personal office, talking loudly on the phone and with patrons. It maybe fine to come to check out a book, but it is not conducive to just sit and read.

Love this library! Clean, modern, efficient. Con: Noisy! Little to no effort to quiet laughter and personal discussions from staff at front desk.

We parked across the street in a grassy area set aside for section hikers of the Appalachian Trail. You can register your car online for a free extended stay. Note: The AT nearest the library is Southbound. You have to walk through Damascus to take the steps up to the northbound trail. This will provide you a chance for one final meal in town.
