Absolutely wonderful little place. I had the chicken fried chicken breakfast, I dont remember what they named it but it came with eggs, grits, biscuit and gravy and I opted for the hashbrown casserole which was the best I've ever had. The chicken was I believe an entire breast cooked perfectly. Coated evenly with a nice crust but tender and juicy inside. The gravy was excellent, and I could have eaten a dozen of the warm buttery biscuits. My wife got scrambled eggs and French toast which was also amazingly good. We were a long way from home on a cold snowy day so the warmth of the people and food was very nice. Definitely recommend 💯
We visited Abingdon, VA and Damascus, VA is about 20 miles south. Damascus is very near the bottom of Virginia, near both the northeast edge of TN and northwest edge of NC. This little village of 790 residents is known for hiking, fishing, hunting, and accesses to the Appalachian Trail. We chose to eat at The Damascas Diner as reviews said it was the best place in town to eat. And the reviewers weren't wrong! We were lucky enough to have Jennifer take care of us. She gave good suggestions and so I had the Alaskan Whitefish lunch plate and my husband had the meatloaf sandwich. It is hard to say which is better, I guess it depends what you are in the mood for...but if you like both, you can't go wrong with either choice. The sides of baked beans and green beans tasted like your grandm
Tried the Damascus Diner for the first time when they had their Harry Potter themed Breakfast! We went a few weeks ago and I got the Hillbilly Hash. The pork with the syrup, the peppers and onions with cheese was an explosion of flavor and delicious!! Also there is something about the biscuits. They are so buttery with a crunch but soft on the inside. So good. Definitely try them out!
The service was fantastic during our entire meal. It is a neat small town atmosphere in the restaurant. Please note they stop serving breakfast 11 AM sharp. I was fortunate to get the home fries that were at the end of the breakfast shift.
Good spot But reviews are too high it was average food . I tried everything that was too much for me I like the potato, saucage and pancakes were average .. egg was the usual while gravy was also average .. it was a good place but not outstanding for 4.7 stars
