Criollas @ Columbus Circle Underground Market

I was going to do a much lower review because of the price. I felt it was so high I got sad. Nearly $70 for 12 empanadas. Usually this is much cheaper. However, I bought 3 to try them and wow... this empanadas are AMAZING.... now I be back and I will have to pay the price of WOW.. . I wish I could buy for the whole fanily, I will sneak on my own and enjoy them.

For years I’m getting my empanadas at Criollas Columbus Circle and they never disappointing me. To me they are the best of NYC!! 😋 And my favorite employee is Jeff!! 😃

The empanadas are really really good! I highly recommend everyone to stop by and have one! Great snack, so far I’ve had beef, corn and the chicken ones! All of them delicious ! Sorry no pics I ate them too quickly ! Really worth going to the underground market for them, additional bonus… a good scape from the cold winter.

This place is open a little bit later which is awesome because I end up working late a lot and it’s always very fresh and tasty. The guy at the counter is super sweet and will give you a bag and a straw for your soda.

I love empanadas but unfortunately I can’t get them often because the options are limited in my home town. I was in NYC for work and was looking for a lunch place in advance for a “lunch on your own” slot on the itinerary. I came across Criollas and was excited to try them because of the reviews. Not being from NYC I knew I would have a bit of leg work to find them. Luckily, I was with a native New Yorker leading the trip, so she was able to assist me. They are in “Turnstyle” which is an indoor shopping mall of sorts. I probably wouldn’t have found it, even with googles assistance. The service was very friendly. I asked for a fork and knife but they were out of knives. The worker apologized genuinely and vigorously. The empanadas were absolutely delicious. They had well developed flavor.
