Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

The service was excellent. Unfortunately the honey fried chicken that I really wanted was out. I ordered the steak and eggs with pancakes which was ok. The pancakes were awesome but the steak was tough and the eggs were dry. Wasn't too thrilled but it was ok. We visited on a weather alert day so perhaps they were having some staffing and inventory issues. I would give this Cracker Barrel another chance in the future. Our waitress Tiffany was excellent 👏. We got the cinnamon rolls skillet and one of the $5.00 meals to go. Really good .

I am not a Cracker Barrel fan. But it was late, we were tired and didn't want fried food. In South Hill that limited uor choices. So cracker Barrel it was. I decided on pot roast with mashed potatoes and apples. I also ordered a beer. The meal came in a few minutes. The beef was chunks of meat in a dark gravy. The meat was tough and chewy the gravy heavy. The mashed potatoes tasted like old instant. It was late. I should have known better. The beer was disappointing. It was listed as an IPA but had no bite at all. There only redeeming quality was that it was served in a small glass so it was gone quickly. In fairness, the server was prompt and friendly. The food was good as usual — consistent comfort food that never misses! The hash was absolutely delicious, and the mimosa was surprisingly tasty (a nice touch for mid road trip). I even ended up buying a cute little fur jacket from the shop for $40 — perfect for dressing up or pairing with joggers for an elevated street look. Always a pleasant stop when passing through South Hill!

We arrived at the restaurant and they were pretty busy: spite all of the business, we were seated and greeted promptly. Samantha was our waitress. She was very pleasant and made sure we were taken care of. I ordered the hamburger steak and gravy, my wife ordered the vegetable plate. The okra was cooked to perfection. It was not slimy at all. The carrots were delightful and the green beans were great as well. We traveled from Va Beach and I will recommend this place to my friends

We were seated promptly and the server Ciara came to us quickly. We ordered the pancakes and they were superb. The manager Debra greeted us and she made her known and that she was there if she needed us. she spoke to us like we were family. I appreciate her being very cordial with us. She made us feel very welcome.
