Country Cookin Depot

I've been coming here for years when traveling through Orange, VA, even before covid, and them closing. They closed and reopened. I didn't have any issues with the restaurant before they closed. After reopening, I was excited to drive 2 hours to try them out. Ive been several times since. Sad to say, it's just not the same. Today was the worst. Quality of food has gone down, and the staff is NOT ATTENTIVE! waited over 15min. for waitress to take our order, and we were the only ones in there. (Friday 11:15am) Wait staff were all in the middle room where they get drinks, talking and gossiping. I could hear them and was sitting over by window. We finally had to flag our waitress to come to the table. Wait staff definitely needs more training or someone watching over them to attend to costumer

Today, after being going there many times, was our last time. The server was so rude and childish, and the managers careless. Last time we invited our parents to have a special diner with us and it was a hair in one of the plates, nobody did anything. But we decided to give them another chance. First, the server didn't know about the "special gift" that they were offering for people who dine in on Valentine's day, we asked because we did know if it was a special meal that we have to order for that. But I ended looking online to show her what I was talking about. After that she didn't come back to the table for a while and when she finally did, she just ask if everything was fine and keep walking away. Left one star so I could leave a review. Visited this restaurant on Monday, Sept 22, 2025 about 530pm. I was visiting from out of town and have to say this was the absolute worst place I have eaten in a very long time. I actually got very sick after eating here and was sick for about 3 days after. I had a salad and chicken fried chicken with a bake potato. I also had green beans. The chicken was still a little pink inside when I got to the middle. I should've cut it on first. Not sure how you can mess up a baked potato but it had a very strong Sulphur taste. The green beans tasted like they were dumped out of a can and not even warmed up. The food was excellent and felt like home cooking. Our waitress was not too attentive. I finally went to the checkout counter to get our check; otherwise, we might still be sitting there.:)

2nd vist, food is good. It fills the itch for a buffet style dinner my husband always talks about and priced fairly. The buffet was clean and they where quick on restocking food.
