Inn on Poplar Hill

The other reviews pretty well describe the Inn. Marty was a great host, helpful but not overbearing. The morning coffee was hot and delicious. I walked the trails behind the Inn while my wife and her friend did the gallery/market stuff. The old house felt very comforting and the breakfast was beyond expectations( eg. raspberry scone, poached apple with roasted sunflower seeds, banana nut bread, blackberries and bananas, eggs several ways, orange juice). As a bonus, my wife's friend was able to stay in the Inn also and I believe they passed midnight talking and drinking down in the front room. The area is fascinating from a history/architecture standpoint, not to mention the wineries. Marty was able to help me with the history of the area as well as provide recommendations for restaur

My husband and I have been traveling to Orange for 6 years for various events at our son’s school, Woodberry Forrest. This weekend we wanted to travel with our puppy and were seeking somewhere that would allow pets. From start to finish, our experience was excellent! Marty called and asked if he could make any reservations for us! When we arrived, we were greeted with homemade chocolate chip cookies for us and our son! The room was spacious and comfortable and clean. They even had treats for our dog in the room. Although he offered a big and grand breakfast, we had so many events at school were unable to take him up on this. I for the life of me cannot figure out why there are not more recent reviews. My stay here has been wonderful and a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The property is beautiful but also conveniently located next to downtown Orange. The innkeeper was extremely helpful in helping me locate what to do in the area and also asked what time I would like breakfast and accommodated dietary preferences. Breakfast was delicious and custom to my taste.

Beautiful Colony home from the 1800’s, very welcoming and like walking back in time. Home was seclude but within a mile of downtown. Our host Marty and his wife made the best breakfasts with home made blackberry scones and raspberry waffles. Coffee was waiting outside our room each morning before making it downstairs for breakfast. Marty was very knowledgeable about the area and gave many helpful suggestions for visiting the area. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast if you are looking to visit a beautiful area of Virginia with a lot of history. We were also 20 minutes from Culpepper and they had a beautiful downtown area to explore as well as Gordonsville.

Stayed at this warm, friendly Inn in February. Honestly, the host could not have been more welcoming. Marty had our preferred half-caff coffee waiting in the morning outside our door so we could linger a little longer in bed. Great idea and really good coffee.||Marty gave us walking suggestions also, when we said we wanted to do a light hike. They have 25 acres to wander through!||The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds are fantastic. Best sheets ever!|If you're going in the winter, bring a bottle of wine and have it in the living room by the fire. Marty will set you up with some hors d'oeuvres or simple snacks. We spent a nice two hours after our restaurant outing, in the living room chatting with another couple staying at the Inn. Marty and his lovely wife joined in also.||Finally, i
