Cookson Bend Resort & Marina

Stayed a Cabin 1 also rented a boat slip for 3 nights. The cabin was nice for my wife and I and 3 kids. The slip was handy since it was about 300 yards from the cabin with a coded gate to get in. The marina has a restaurant and there is a restaurant a few blocks over that had live music every night. The lake is nice reminds me of Tablerock lake, not super wide and the water was clear. I gave the room 4 stars because it's a little expensive for what you get. 3 stars for service because when I checked in the kids working there had zero info about where the cabins where and the rules about the boat slip. However I changed it to 4 stars since the Lady that was there was very nice and helpful. I suspect she runs the place. Overall a nice place to stay if you have a boat. Tip: use the boat ramp

This is not your typical marina cafe. All the seating area is outside with nice chairs, tables and umbrellas for shade. If you sit in the larger dining area, there are large water coolers for comfort from the summer heat. The service is friendly and attentive. The menu is limited to comfort foods but nicely prepared. I particularly liked the wraps, but the brats & burgers are also good. One can drive by car or pull-up and dock your boat in the slips close by. Overall, the furnishings are better than expected and well maintained. The owners are frequently if not always present. Additionally, there is an adjoining marine store, small but very nicely stocked with a very pleasant ambiance.

Unfortunately, every interaction I’ve had with the owner of this marina has been unpleasant. When we accidentally bumped into our own dock box, instead of offering help or understanding, he made us feel even more embarrassed. Thankfully, a kind staff member stepped in to assist — it’s clear not everyone there follows his example. Another time, while trying to find the right size shirt in the shop (with every intention of refolding the others), he made rude remarks about us “messing up” the stack of shirts. Last weekend, my husband was scolded for throwing trash away in the bin near our slip — despite us paying over $4,000 a year to store our boat there. We understand trash piles becomes problematic, and would’ve gladly taken it with us had he approached us with basic respect and offered a

Came here during a visit with friends who live nearby. The place was spotless! The staff were hustling, which could've meant they were frazzled. Not here! These folks were on top of things and our large table had a great experience—good food and very attentive staff. I was so impressed that I bought a hat in the souvenir shop. When I'm back in the area, I'll be looking forward to another visit here. Thanks, y'all! 😀

It was a beautiful place but it isn't being taken care of very well. Our water hydrant was leaking as much water as what was going into the camper. When we reported it they said it had been reported & passed on to the higher-ups, but by the time we left, 5 days later, it was still leaking badly.
