Cocina Chapina

After shopping for locally grown produce this morning at a number of farm stands we drove over to Hudson, NY for an early lunch at Cocina Chapina (160 Fairview Ave), a relatively new Guatemalan restaurant in the area. After living in southern California for nearly four decades, where there was an abundance of regional Mexican and Central American cuisines, we are always on the lookout for places which offer authentic flavors. Open only a month, Cocina Chapina absolutely filled the bill and will be a restaurant we will visit often. My one sentence review: "Authentic-tasting cuisine from the Guatemalan palate with a number of specialty dishes, served in a relaxed and airy space, by members of the family who own the establishment at quite reasonable prices."

Stopped in today to try out this new Guatemalan restaurant and I was really impressed! They have a great variety of delicious dishes, full of authentic flavor. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

This place opened up nearby my place. My girlfriend and I love trying new food places. Cute little hole in the wall place- food was exceptional. Fantastic portion sizes. Very good service. Wasn’t super busy so check them out! Homemade corn tortillas are the best part.

The food is amazing. It’s definitely a bang for your buck. The food portions for what I ordered was quite big and it didn’t cost me as much as I thought the workers are very sweet and the atmosphere is awesome. I recommend you give it a try. :)

They are still working out some kinks in the menu and service, but the people are friendly and the food is absolutely fantastic! It seems like everything is made from scratch and it comes through in the flavor. I think I found my new favorite place.
