Cielito Lindo Restaurant II

This is my second visit to Cielito Lindo. The first was a to-go order and the food was just average. Dined in today and tried a few different items to better review. Service is very slow, even when no customers in restaurant. Food was lacking seasoning and variety. All items have the very same bland taste. The table next to me made a comment that sums it up. "Taco Bell has more flavor. "

1. A very limited menu. 2. The servers had a hard time understanding due to language barriers. 3. I had tamales. The sauce was a brown gravy that is typically served on a chicken fried steak! It DID NOT compliment tamales. And the tamales were with ground beef. Not good at all. 4. The salsa was decent. 5. The price was high for the quality.

My wife and I were on a schedule (grandson’s soccer game) so we decided to to stop by this Mexican food restaurant on the way in Bellville. From the first person that saw us we were greeted cheerfully by the whole staff. Even took the opportunity for a little Spanish lesson from our waiter. To keep it simple and fast, we chose the fajita nachos (large) from the appetizer menu. We were not disappointed in the timing or the quality. It was ‘only’ nachos, but the ingredients were plentiful especially the meat (we asked for both chicken and beef). The usual chips and dips to start the meal included two types of sauce and and serving of black bean dip. Nachos were $15.95, but took care of both of us. The sweet teas were $3.25 each😕.

Ordered a large shrimp cocktail to go and a queso, both tasted water down and the shrimp cocktail only had like 6 shrimp for 17.95? Yeah never ordering to go again. Queso was supposed to have meat which I paid extra for, also like water and almost no meat, 40 dollars in the trash.

We were seated fast. Chips came with a black bean dip, which was great and salsas. Food came out fast and hot. Everyone's food was good. I had a skirt steak dish. The meat was tender and very good.
