Chester Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I loved this beautiful B&B. Our only regret is that we couldn't spend more time there exploring the grounds and enjoying the beautiful space! Jean and Craig were such gracious hosts. We will be recommending this B&B to others hoping to visit this area!

My husband and I stayed at Chester this holiday season and I can't rave enough about our wonderful trip. Jean and Craig were gracious hosts who welcomed us into their beautiful home and treated us like family. Our room was comfortable and inviting with a big four poster bed and a warm fire to invite us to stay. Jean made us delicious breakfasts every morning (the french toast was to die for!) but the new years eve dinner that we had might have been the highlight of our trip. They took so much care in preparing our mouthwatering 5 course meal and presented us with a bottle of champagne in our room to ring in the new year. I can't wait for our next trip to Chester!

My boyfriend Michael and I stumbled upon the Chester this past weekend while passing through the area. From the moment we arrived, Jean, Craig, and their awesome dog Trixie welcomed us to their home. The room was quietly tucked in the back of the home, which was lovely all around. We had everything we needed and were so cozy together there. Jean made some dinner recommendations for us, which were perfect - we highly recommend the Tavern on the James. On our way up to the room for the night, we grabbed some books from the downstairs den and enjoyed the quiet evening together. Breakfast in the morning was prepared by Craig, and he certainly did not disappoint. French toast, bacon, fruit, juice and delicious French pressed coffee - couldn't have asked for anything better. My wife and I spent a lovely weekend at the Chester as a birthday getaway for my wife, and it was just what we were looking for. Jean and Craig (and Trixie!) are welcoming and gracious hosts, and the accommodations were perfect. We were in the White Oak bedroom, an airy, secluded, and luxurious retreat from our regular hustle and bustle up in DC. Breakfasts were delicious - a fruit appetizer followed by a hot entree, and Jean was extremely accommodating towards my wife's food allergies. We ended up going out for some later dinners in Charlottesville, about a half hour away, and yet each night when we came finally returned around 11:30, Craig was waiting to make us some tea before we turned in, as he learned my wife is rarely caught without a large mug of tea in her hand.||||Overall, it was

This is the second year I have had the pleasure of staying at the Chester. It is a place where the owners make you feel at home and utterly at ease. I come with a group of women for an annual trip which is always excellent and looked forward to each year! The owners are friendly the food is delicious and the rooms are clean and well appointed. The b&b is located close to food lion and tavern on the James which had a live band and delicious food! Truly cannot say enough good things about the Chester!! Beds are comfortable and the antique style is not outdated at all. Fresh coffee and homemade breakfast is not to be missed. Would be good for a weekend away, couples trip etc.
