Baked on the James

INCREDIBLE CLASS! Second time taking it :) Firstly, let me say that I enjoyed taking Brittiny's Cake Decorating Class so much, I signed up to learn how to decorate a different cake. She is so kind, humble, and extremely knowledgeable. Brittiny demonstrates on a cake of her own and then will walk you through the steps at your pace. She genuinely cares you are happy with your cake and goes the extra mile, knowing that each person comes to the class with their own level of expertise. She will help you correct your form, give guidance on the tools she uses, and simplifies the steps to make it feel less overwhelming. Brittiny is attentive and wants you to feel proud of your cake. For instance, my cake kept leaning to the side, and she recommended putting it in the freezer to help stabilize it

I have always loved the baked goods from Baked on the James, and purchased from Brittiny before she had her own store in Scottsville. But BOY am I glad she has her own brick and mortar store to be able to visit whenever that craving hits. The staff in there are amazing and DeVante is always so friendly, talkative, and has such great customer. I don’t know if he remembers me from coming in the past, or if he’s always that warm and welcoming, but feeling that welcomed is such a great feeling and that goes a long way. I haven’t visited as much as I probably could have, but I absolutely loved the cake decorating class and will be taking another one. Although Brittiny was sick and couldn’t teach our class, she didn’t cancel and had the more then capable Emily step in for her and she was amazing

We used Baked on the James for our wedding cake and desserts. We did not want a large wedding cake but instead opted for a small cake for my husband and I and offered the guests pie cups instead. The pie cups were a hit with the guests and we loved them because they required less mess/effort than cutting pies or a cake. We had some guests tell us they had to leave because otherwise they were worried they would eat a fourth pie cup! lol Service was great. Dessert was great. The pricing was very reasonable. Would highly recommend baked on the James for wedding desserts or just an addictive sweet treat.

Baked on the James made the cake and cupcakes for our wedding this summer, and we could not be happier with how they turned out! The presentation was beautiful, but more importantly, everything tasted amazing! Our guests were raving about how delicious the cake / cupcakes were - with some guests admitting they had 3 cupcakes! Brittiny was great to work with and even made signs for the cupcake display describing the flavor / what was in each cupcake, which was one less thing we had to do leading up to our wedding day!

I’ve been buying cupcakes from Brittiny since she was baking out of her home, long before she opened her storefront, and they have always been absolutely delicious. When we decided to get married in Cape Charles, VA, I was so excited that Brittiny agreed to make our wedding cupcakes. It meant so much to have something sweet from “home” included in our special day. The cupcakes were a huge hit! Our guests raved about them, and people are still talking about how amazing they were and asking where they came from. Thank you so much, Brittiny, for being a part of such a special day in our lives and for continuing to make the best cupcakes ever!
