Came to CFS Coffee For The Soul and honestly the place just feels good when you walk in. Colombian coffee vibes, cool stuff on the walls, kinda makes you look around for a minute. Staff was really friendly too, didn’t feel rushed or anything. I ordered the hot chocolate and… wow. First thing, the size. I’ve never seen a cup that big at a coffee shop. Pretty sure it healed my soul right away. Taste wise, super smooth. Nice and hot. Had light cinnamon notes that show up after a sip. Not overly sweet either, which I liked. Creamy texture, almost like melted chocolate but lighter. They even did latte art on top and served it in this artisan cup. Looked way too nice for something I was about to destroy in five minutes. Came for chocolate, left spiritually repaired. Honestly might come back n

Its Saturday morning. You can tell the quality of the coffee you’re going to get from the vibe of the barista. The one who made ours greeted me without a smile and her energy was lacking. She was more interested in her conversation with her colleagues than her job. No warm smile. I didn’t see how she tamped the coffee, but when she stuck the milk under the steam wand and left it to steam while she perused her phone, i began to worry. Yup, two coffees with burnt milk coming up! Its been 15 mins and i still cant drink my coffee without burning our mouths. Secondly, i ordered empanadas to go, yes, they took their time to reheat 4 empanadas in the microwave together, then “crispened” in the airfryer. Perhaps they forgot to turn it on. My empanadas were only lukewarm on the inside (defi

Great breakfast and lunch spot in Oak Brook. It’s a lot larger inside than you’d expect and has loads of seating. Really cool cozy corner booths with pillows too. I got the Cuban Sandwich. Fire! One of the better Cubans I’ve had. For your side you can pick between mixed greens or potato chips, or upgrade to plantain chips. Servers are all really nice and accommodating. Can’t wait to come back and try even more on their menu!

I love trying new café spots, so I was genuinely excited when I saw café bonbon on the menu. It’s one of my favorite drinks I discovered while traveling. Unfortunately, this ended up being very much an expectations vs. reality moment. The drink was served in the wrong cup, and the condensed milk to coffee ratio was off. I also ordered a yuca waffle, which is traditionally soft, chewy, and slightly crispy. Instead, it had the texture of rubber and was difficult to eat. Orders weren’t taken at the counter and could only be placed through a self-serve computer stand, while staff were mostly absent. Nitpicky note: I love being served food and drinks on unique dinnerware, something they do well with their coffee, but I wish the jam and syrup hadn’t been served in plastic containers.

The service today was honestly disappointing. The food had no flavor, it was bland, undercooked, and nothing like what we’d had before. The staff didn’t seem interested in taking our order at all, which made the experience even worse. We ordered the egg with steak. The only positive is that the café itself is a good spot to study or relax. The last time we came, the owner was extremely kind, helpful, and the food had way more sazón. This time, it completely missed the mark. No tenía sazón en absoluto.
