Castle by the Sea

This beautiful, charming home is the perfect stay. The location is storybook. The beautiful neighborhood is straight out of a book. Especially all decorated for Halloween. We stayed in the master bedroom. The king size bed was so comfortable! The elegant dressing room and huge tub was lovely. The view from our room ...I could sit and watch the harbor waters all day. The house has a really cool Oriental theme, with so many things to see. Breakfast was killer. Ms.Joan made us scrambled eggs and smoked sausage. We had toast and orange juice. I'm in love with this B&B. It was an excellent first stop on our New England adventure. Thank you do much Ms.Joan❤️

Stayed for the location; it's 4 miles to BOS Logan Airport. Took 20 mins in heavy traffic, but was a much better deal than staying in one of the airport hotels. Felt a bit too much like staying in someone's house for me. Bikes on the front lawn, kid's baseball photo on the room key, etc.. Bathroom (private, as advertised) down the hallway. But a nice classic house, safe neighborhood, clean, and the host was very nice.

We stayed the night and had zero problems. House is beautiful and the proximity to the airport made it so nice to roll in after getting in so late. Breakfast was delicious and Joan is such a warm and wonderful hostess. Winthrop is a cool town and I would definitely stay here again next time we're in Boston.

We got reams of instructions by email before we arrived specifying our parking space and other instructions. When we arrived, another car was in our parking space. Now what? We parked in a place that was not a designated parking slot and apparently, that was OK. We found that out the next day.||The instructions and code to enter the house were left on the door. We thought it was strange to have a note on the door on how to get in to the building.||We were put in room # 1 on the second floor. If you have heavy bags, be apprised that there is no elevator. We two carried each one up the stairs, one at a time.||The room has a/c but it was stuffy and the shag carpet smells old and musty.||Breakfast was cold even though it was sausage and eggs. 9/2025 Absolutely nasty, dirty and stunk. The pictures must be from years ago. Garbage on the front porch. Literally spider webs in the plants on the porch going into the house. Dog hair matted on the rugs. The room you walked in the smell took your breathe away. Old matted down horrible shag rug . Closet doors chained locked .Dust everywhere. The blanket had been for years and I couldn't tell anything was cleaned. Bathroom floor nasty. For a family business the family needs to take the time and clean this place. We left in minutes called a Uber. She did not refund our money. Asked a question she said read the paper we gave you. A paper of rules but couldn't even answer a question. We could not stay not one more second.
