I would like to express some concerns regarding the current state of the library environment. First, the carpet is very old and has developed an unpleasant odor, including a musty smell that suggests mold. Given that Lexington is a community with high taxes, it is surprising that the library floor has not yet been replaced with hardwood or another material that is more sanitary and resistant to mold. Always too noisy, being an older person I will never get used to people talking as if they are on the street rather than in a library. Lexington is making accomodations for those with no respect of how libraries actually are meant to be!

An excellent library space with diverse programming, a good collection, and particularly kind, supportive librarians who make every effort to support all members of their community!

Cary Library is ranked in the top 100 libraries for a town the size of Lexington in the entire country. The Cary sisters were incredibly generous when they endowed this library well over 100 years ago. Today Cary Library is thriving and I can always find absolutely any book or magazine that I’m looking for. The library has grown and prospered since it’s founding and today it many times larger than the original building. Come visit this wonderful community resource and spend a day they just exploring. All the best - Robert

Gorgeous big library with a great variety of books and other media for borrowing and even a section of books for sale.
