Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken

The food was great, top notch. But the female cashier was very rude when I was giving my order. I have a speech impediment and it’s hard for me to communicate. So I thought the cashier would be respectful since it’s obvious I have that and anyone can guess it. During my order she looked very annoyed and mad in a way. She kept interrupting me nonstop and went to the kitchen to bring another worker to ask me more about my order. I don’t understand what was the point of that. If you work at a restaurant or a food chain, you should have that basic human decency since you get to interact with hundreds of people in a day. Upon arriving walks inside Captain Jay's. Noticed a guy in the kitchen cooking. I also saw him grabbed hand full of okra put in fryer. Sir where are your gloves your touching customers FOOD. Young lady comes in from outside went in the kitchen she didn't stop at the sink to wash her hands. Miss you just came from outside touching door knobs and to her long hair wasn't cover with a hair net. Let's do better people. SMH

Terrible experience. Knock off JJs. Order a 2 PC Whiting which was spoiled and extremely overcooked. I moved on to the wings and catfish. They didn't put any seasoning on it but it looked OK. Long story short. Woke up with the BGs. Never again

I used to frequent this Captain Jay's location because it consistently delivered the freshest and most delicious fried food in the area. Unfortunately, my recent visit was deeply disappointing. The display cooler was a major red flag, with flies visibly floating at the bottom in what appeared to be stagnant, contaminated water. This is not only unsanitary but also raises serious concerns about the health and safety practices at this establishment. Additionally, there were open sauce containers that had spilled, creating an unclean and unprofessional appearance. The service also left much to be desired. Yesterday was my first time going to Captain Jay’s in Hamtramck. I used to think was it was haram but they told me everything was halal. So I tried it, and it was delicious. Good for the price and good customer service. I would come back for sure.
