Cap's Place

Just had a delicious meal. We were a little unsure what to expect after reading reviews however everything we experienced exceeded our expectations. Our waiter was very helpful describing the specials and making menu suggestions. The fun started the minute we boarded the boat that took us to the restaurant. I recommend giving them a try.

Arrived at 8pm on Friday for our reservation. Stepped into the bar and were immediately and rudely told to go to the restaurant, the bar was closed. The bar smelled bad anyway, so I guess that was fine. At the table we were given literature to read up on the “history” of the location and a long list of dead celebrities who had visited in the past. We were told no one else the quality of “hearts of palm” salad that they do. It was ordered $20 and had no real taste. It was passed around the table of 6, but not finished. I had the scallops which they “no longer pan sear,” so I chose broiled. They were overcooked and tough; I couldn’t eat them. The only sides offered were green beans w/ Parmesan butter sauce, but they were cold, and mashed potatoes or fries. The fried shrimp were fine, but not

So interesting. You could only get there by their boat accommodation which was an adventure in itself. The Captain was entertaining, the ride was pleasant & picturesque. Our first stop was the bar. It was so antiquated. The entrance doors reminded me of the doors on a phone booth...tight! Then we entered the restaurant which was exactly as described. The food was perfect! Service was excellent. The prices are comparable with the amazing atmosphere. Well worth it for a special occasion.

These are the best crab cakes I have ever eaten and that includes All of the famous places in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Perfection.

This is a unique old Florida experience. You have to take a boat to get there. The menu is limited with mostly fish. We all liked the crab cakes and the hearts of palm salad but the fish was ok at best. The key lime pie was clearly homemade and nice and tart. The prices are high for what you get.
