Calizona Tacos

I was excited to try this taco truck, but with so many taco spots on the west side, you really gotta serve up some delicious meats if you want to make an impression. The tacos were fine; I had a birria and an al pastor. I guess I’d hoped for a little more sabor, something to make me go “MmmmMmm.” But there was none of that. It was a standard street style taco that satiated my hunger but didn’t leave me wanting more.

I’ll be dreaming of these tacos every day for the rest of my life. Let’s taco bout it. (See what I did there?) if you know me or read my reviews there’s three things I could live on forever. Tacos of course, Pho and Cold Brew. There are a couple taco spots I frequent, but I always listen for new places to check out. If they’re local I definitely have to come and support. My daughter and I were in the mood for some Quesa Birria tacos so I looked around to see what my options were near El Mirage since we were in the area supporting another local spot. My eyes instantly saw Calizona and I knew this was where we were headed. I’ve heard great things and I’m honestly surprised I hadn’t stopped yet since our favorite butcher shop/market for asada and such is so close. I followed the directions

Excellent food! Very affordable. Tacos are $3 and tacos with cheese are $3.75. They have birria, asada, shrimp, etc. Beans and rice for sides as well as some soups and quesadillas. They had a Jamaica and orchata the night we went and both were excellent! It's been a long time since I had good drinks at a Mexican food restaurant. They take cash and credit cards. There is a nice covered seating area with multiple tables, and each table has three homemade hot sauces, kept in a cooler with ice packs. Most people were ordering to go but it was a nice night we so we ate there. It was all very clean and well kept. We saw several families as well.

First time trying Calizona and let me just say this was was the best Mexican food truck I have had in a WHILE. I got a carne asada burrito with everything inside and I could taste the flavorful carne asada along with the amazing Spanish rice. It was big nice size burrito that I saved for leftovers. Make sure to grab the salsa if you’re a spicy sauce lover, it’ll go perfect with the burrito. I waited a good amount of time to enjoy such a wonderful burrito. I will def be back to try other thing on their menu. Their pictures do not lie!
