Great food. Pretty wide variety to choose from as well. Small shop so seating is very limited. Large portion size so was a great value for the cost.

I recently hired Caliente Mexican Grill to cater my son's high school graduation party. I was a little nervous at first, as I've only ever eaten at their restaurant before, and I wasn't sure how the food would translate to a large event. However, I was completely blown away by the quality of the food, service, and presentation. The food was absolutely delicious. My guests raved about it, and I even had a few people tell me that they had never had Mexican food that good before. Tucked away behind the URI campus is a variety of stores, cafes, and restaurants that serve the needs of the average URI college student. Though these places are open year round and are important to the larger community. Caliente Mexican Grill is one of these places. While I consider Rhode Island to have a fairly strong Latin American food influence, Calient falls into a class of Mexican food restaurant that doesn't suffer from the standardization of a national chain. At a national chain, I can know what I want to order because I have had it before, but when I go to Caliente, I get to explore the menu items that a local chef decided upon.
