Went to Cajun Kates in Wilmington Delaware on Philadelphia Pike. The menu had great options. The service was very good and timely. I ordered a lot. Let’s start with the red beans and rice which had great consistency and deep in flavor profile. The gumbo was better, rich also. The shrimp was well seasoned. The catfish had good flavor. Fried green tomatoes even with the nice flavor the breading was too thin and falls apart so you can’t really enjoy it. The bread pudding was a hefty serving which was cooked well but I would have put just a little more sugar or some cinnamon in it
Fantastic food. Ordered a Shrimp Poboy and Fried Crab Mac n Cheese. They were so kind to offer a few samplers (which were great too) for our first visit. Would visit again!
Stopped here passing through Wilmington on the way to Philly. Food was fantastic. We had the shrimp and sausage Gumbo and the boudin balls. Service was great. It is an order and seat yourself location. We were given some samplers of the rice and beans as well as a few others. All of the food was fantastic. Very happy we stopped here.
AMAZING staff! Very friendly & knowledgeable about the dishes they sell. The food was even more AMAZING!! I had the red beans and rice and it was PERFECT! They have small, medium and large (also for the jambalaya) and I get the large and still have half to take home!! Also tried GATOR for the first time and it was actually very good! DON'T forget to have the beignets (deep-fryed pastry) for dessert!!! The atmosphere is super cool, very New-Orleans-authentic! Then, one of my favorite things about Cajun Kate's, their prices!!! SUPER low! We could actually afford to eat out which is rare!!! Grade A for sure!!
I know this is a restaurant but I'm going to start off with the workers. Kelly (and I remember the name because mine is also Kelley) and the younger gentleman there(really wish I could remember his name) were amazing. The most friendliest people you could ever meet! Very welcoming and we did get there about a half hour before closing (sorry!) but they were as happy as could be to serve us and tell us about the different choices. Let me tell you that if the food had just been mediocre, I would come back just because of them. But the food, so far from mediocre! Everything was amazingly delicious! The crawfish pie and red beans and rice is what I had. The wife had the crab and corn fried Mac and cheese. We had a sample of the jambalaya and collard greens and they were delicious as well. We al
