My wife and I had an excellent experience and meal here on 3/7/26. The ambiance was nice and the space felt cozy. Our servers name was Anya, and she was excellent! We started with the onions tarte which was an excellent balance of sweat and savory. I ended up getting the lamb as it was new to the menu that evening and my wife got the steak Diane, both were phenomenal. Of course we ended with dessert (toffee pudding and the mignardises). We will definitely be back to again in the future. If you are looking for a sign to try this place, this is it!
Café Monette is a truly special dining experience. With a thoughtfully curated, small, seasonal changing menu focused on locally sourced ingredients, every dish is made in-house and prepared to absolute perfection. The open kitchen adds to the experience—you can see the care, precision, and pride that goes into each plate. Whether you’re seated at the intimate bar or at one the beautiful set dining tables, the atmosphere is warm, refined, and spotlessly clean. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly very experienced, guiding the evening without ever feeling intrusive. The French-inspired dishes are beautifully presented and impeccably balanced, showing both technical skill and restraint. Nestled in the Hallmark-like picturesque town of St. Albans, VT—30 minutes north of Burlingt
Came here for a birthday celebration for my friend. Holy shit. Okay, so first of all, the vibe of the place is intimate but well lit, and all the decour is clearly intentional and looks awesome. We sat at the bar because I did not make a res and they were already booked full 3 days in advance, and the seats aren’t cramped together so we had ample space to eat and drink a multi course meal, which is absolutely not the usual case for sitting at the bar, so massive kudos for that. All the staff were lovely, attentive, and knowledgeable. I got the duck sausage as my main course, and it was INCREDIBLE. The texture was unique and every piece worked so well together. When we asked the server about details in the dish, he was knowledgeable and informed. Oh, and the apps - the onion tart is literal
What a magical visit this was! ✨ I’d been wanting to try this place since it opened because I love French cuisine, and I’m so glad we went. Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in. Our server, Spencer, was great! The food was incredible, you can tell everything is made from scratch, the generous portions for a gourmet restaurant are always a plus. I had the trout, perfectly cooked, melting in butter with lemon and capers. My friends’ beef bourguignon and poulet were also delicious, and I loved getting to try both. Not to mention, the frites with aioli were the best I’ve ever had. For dessert, we shared the warm cinnamon like French toast with maple, the toffee and the pastry sampler. Everything was fantastic! Place was cute, comfortable, well-lit, and not loud. The staff went a
A hidden gem located in the beating heart of downtown Saint Albans Vermont, Café Monette both surprises and delights in all the right ways. The atmosphere is a cozy mix of small town cafe with uptown decor but in no overbearing or pretentious manner. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and go out of their way to answer any questions you have about the dishes or even the kitchen (including the layout and cleaning rituals). The food itself is nothing short of superb and every bite tastes like it was made in Grandma's kitchen with love. The ingredients are fresh, the plating excellent, and the flavor pairings are what you would expect from this chef owned restaurant that clearly holds itself to a high standard. So if you're looking for that special date night out, memorable dinner, or you just
