I came to this restaurant about a week ago on a Thursday evening with a friend. It was recommended to me so I expected a pretty good meal. I was served RAW chicken in the Kung Pao Chicken. Like not undercooked chicken that can kill a person or make them very sick but actually raw chunks of chicken. I was shocked really. They took my plate back and offered soup or something else. I declined until they kept asking and I decided to obviously not get a chicken dish and try the ribs. I was seated facing the kitchen and saw them put something in a bowl and toss it around and put it under the warmer. Yep it was the ribs. There was hardly any meat on them, the flavor would have been ok but they tasted like 2-3 day old ribs that they tossed in some sauce and warmed up. There is no way the ri

I as at Cafe ML last night just like many times before. Ordered a couple appetizers. I will say even though the items I ordered were not the best, I will go back to restaurant. The service and ambience provide a nice space to wind down after a long day. Now on to the appetizers: the Shortrib Steamed Buns photograph well but sadly miss the mark. The meat in the buns was shaved thin and a bit tough to chew. A nice portion of braised shortrib is the way to go to elevate this bun, providing a tender succulent chew the bun was clearly missing. There was good acid on the bun but the shortrib was a letdown. Stumbled upon ML Cafe by accident, looking for food after my son’s away basketball game, far from home. Upon walking in, the restaurant is nicely lit, beautiful esthetic and friendly host. We sat down and the waitress promptly took our drink order. My daughter ordered a coke which did not taste like coke, then a sprite that tasted like sparkling water. My son ordered a soup which he liked. Our entrees consisted of a kids pasta, spaghetti and meatball and a random chicken dinner. The sauce for the kids food tasted so sour, they needed lots of Parmesan cheese to mask the strange sauce taste, the meatball tasted like rubber, no flavor whatsoever, very disappointing given the price of these meals and how basic they are. Truly a five star restaurant! We go to Cafe ML when celebrating with friends, on our way to a show, or just on a night when we don’t feel like cooking. Delicious and creative food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The hostess, manager, and servers always seem genuinely happy to see us, and ready to provide a wonderful dining experience. Our favorite Detroit area restaurant!

First time, service was as friendly and a bit slow. Restaurant was busy which must have been why. Food was good, but not great. Nachos were very greasy and dense, guacamole was excellent. Chicken tacos weren’t tender or very flavorful, fish tacos were cooked right but a bit fishy. We will be back to try other dishes, colleagues highly recommend this place so perhaps we missed something.
