Cabin On The Lake

Our stay at Cabin on the Lake was a delightful experience, defined by its genuine antique charm and the truly accommodating nature of the host. The property offers a wonderfully unique feel with its antique charm, lending it great character and potential. We enjoyed comfortable and private retreat in our room, complete with a very unique bathroom and a cute view across the road toward the lake. The location is excellent, placing us close to many different places, and we appreciated the strong, reliable Wi-Fi and the cozy downstairs dining area. Finally, the continental-style breakfast, served in a quaint atmosphere, was perfect, with everything fresh and tasting good. We highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking a charming getaway with a gracious host.

We arrived at Cabin on the Lake for a one night stay. It was disappointing. It used to be that bed and breakfast places were something special. This was not special. The Captain's room does have a king bed, and there is a nice porch off the room, but it is rather dark inside the room. The mattress was ok, but the pillows were dense and flat. The bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. The manager came and cleaned the sink and toilet, but that situation pretty much tainted our stay. There is no shower curtain around the jacuzzi tub so if you elect to take a shower, the water is going everywhere. Breakfast is mostly dry cereal. They do offer waffles and pancakes, but no breakfast meat. Wish I had known all this before I made the reservation.

We were really looking forward to this stay and tried to keep a positive mindset throughout. Unfortunately, the arrival felt a bit confusing and not very welcoming, though we chose to overlook it since we were excited for our short getaway. The main concern came on the day of checkout. Checkout time was clearly stated as 11:00 a.m., yet around 9:00 a.m. the owner attempted to open our room and then called multiple times requesting the room key while we were still inside. This made us feel uncomfortable and concerned, especially since we were well within the checkout window. There was also no apology or clarification afterward. Location is great but didn’t has a good overall stay.

I wish I could rate this location 10 stars, the owner was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. We stayed in the Captain Room, and it was wonderful! I loved our view of the lake, and the decor made the room feel cozy and at home. I enjoyed a lovely muffin and some orange juice for breakfast, and I will definitely be staying here again!

Having our coffee out by the pond was lovely with its green water Lilly's and light early morning mist. Hugo was wonderful attended to all our needs and directed us to every spot from beautiful trails and springs to what to do in town. We will be back.
