Thick, homemade bread! Fluffy, seasoned omelets! Potatoes with a soft inside and slight crunch to the outside! It was here that I sated my desire for a fine NEK breakfast! Of the three breakfast places I visited on my last trip to Vermont, Brown Cow was definitely the best. (I’ve been hurting with the closure of Miss Lyndonville Diner, and on the lookout for a new breakfast spot in the NEK to look forward to. Brown Cow will now fill that void.) Brown Cow was busy when we arrived Saturday morning but there was no wait at the door. I came with a friend and we sat at the counter, both to not rob a table from a larger group and to see the action of the cooking experience! We both ordered coffees and waters, and I opted for a special omelet of the morning (with steak, cheese, peppers and onions
Stopped in Friday morning and was able to get a table for two right away. We had an order of the deep fried French toast - added blueberries. Wow oh wow it was amazing!!! We also ordered the cow plop - I got toast instead of a biscuit. The bread is homemade so I enjoyed the toast. The cow plop was ok I probably wouldn’t order it again. But overall food was delicious and fresh and fast. High recommend a stop in!
Not that many breakfast places around here but this is a good one. Prices are reasonable and the food is decent. The service is super friendly as well. Blueberry pancakes are pretty good, lots of fruit. Omelettes and meat options are acceptable as well. They have a huge rotating pie list that looks really good.
My boyfriend and I stopped before we headed back to PA, and it was wonderful! The service was EXCELLENT and friendly, and the food was great. We loved the pancakes, both regular and chocolate chip, and the cow bowl! We also bought two of their Brown Cow shirts, which are high quality and embroidered! Great prices and a decent amount of parking. You may need to be prepared for a wait, especially if it is a weekend morning!
This little country restaurant is bustling with delicious fresh, scratch-made food served to wise locals who get there early. We stopped in on a Sunday just in time. Nice full menu, good hot coffee, great service despite the tables all full and a 10 minute wait. Big tasty portions. Snag a fresh loaf of bread on your way out. Parking lot or on the street. Again, get there early or expect to wait. Mostly small tables and some counter seats. Clean bathroom, sweet cow theme decor, of course.
