Broken Engrish

First time here. Great vibe! Jerry, the owner, is super down to earth and very helpful with menu recommendations. Everything we tried was excellent. And the cold sides really add to the flavor punch of the main courses. Also, all the furniture and decor was made by Jerry, the owner. Very nice little restaurant. Come out and visit. You won’t even know it’s plant based.

If you are looking for the best vegan Taiwanese food in the area, you have to check out Broken Engrish. It is a fantastic plant-based restaurant with a creative menu. I highly recommend the vegan Dan Dan noodles and their pot stickers. The Mapo Tofu waffle fries are a total game changer for vegan comfort food! ​The restaurant was very clean, had great music, and a welcoming atmosphere. Our server was incredibly kind, and the prices are very fair for such high-quality vegan dining. Don't miss the Arctic Ocean soda, it’s the perfect refreshing pairing. Definitely a top tier vegan spot

A bit of a late post cause we tried this place a few months ago (December 2025). We are from out of town, but left with a good impression. The name drew us in and it was a nice way to break the ice with the owner. He was very attentive and we could tell right away that he cares a lot about his restaurant and his customers. The food was amazing. I ordered the “beef” noodle soup and it was perfect, down to the temperature and everything (I get low key mad when my soups are barely warm). I wish I had taken pictures of both of our plates; they were both delicious. I had also taken a few bites out of mine before I remembered to snap a picture. We had a lovely evening dining at Broken Engrish! The owner was so nice, conversational, and he had excellent menu suggestions for us. I had the "beef" soup and my fiance had the braised "pork" rice. We also split a portion of the not-so-stinky tofu. Everything was AMAZING! Pure comfort food! The vibes were perfected by a game of Jenga. We left completely happy, except for the wish of having a bigger stomachs. We will DEFINITELY be back! 😁

Vegan heaven!!! This was our second visit in a month. Tofu waffle fries were crazy good. We enjoyed a quiet booth for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves. Our family has diverse palates-V,GF,GI ,allergies. We all enjoyed the food and had zero issues. Interesting options in beverage cooler with counter ordering, plenty of seating, attentive and caring service. Usual LA parking situation and the food is worth it.
