Bright Morning Star Bed & Breakfast

For a trip to Shipshe this is a “must”! The hostess Marcia was so incredibly kind and what deliciously well planned breakfasts! The house and yard are immaculately kept. Beautiful rooms. Porch sitting and buggy watching is a highlight with coffee or iced tea. Perfect location 2 miles outside of town on a beautiful country road. |Sunrises on the back patio or sunsets on the front porch both overlooking pastures was so serene. |Do yourself a favor and book here for your next visit. You will not be disappointed!

Several reviews seem to be snarky regarding the hostess. Marcia could not have been more welcoming to my sister, my husband and me. She went out of her way to educate us on the Amish, and was so informative. We sat on the front porch and she was greeted by every buggy and family that went by - waving to all of us. It was wonderfully decorated and we were encouraged to explore the other rooms she had decorated. Overall our visit was perfect - we loved seeing the Shipshewana “rush hour” on the back patio - watching the cows coming home for the evening. If we should ever find ourselves there again we would stay at Marcia’s B and B. 5 stars Marcia!

Marcia is the most gracious host/owner! When I asked about Amish neighbors she shared delightful insights. My room was perfect! I couldn’t imagine a better place to unwind and appreciate our amazing planet and we people who inhabit it. I want to come back & stay much longer.

Our third visit to Bright Morning Star felt like coming home. From the moment we arrived until the time we left, Marcia made us feel welcome and comfortable. Her breakfasts are out of this world--stuffed French toast casserole, candied bacon, homemade muffins and jams, and so much more. Marcia offered gluten free choices that I could enjoy as well. The rooms are beautifully decorated with lots of space. We especially enjoyed sitting on the front porch with our tea and coffee, appreciating the view of area farms and the clippety-clop of horses and buggies. Marcia has a wealth of knowledge about Amish customs and food which she shares willingly. She can offer excellent suggestions on places to visit, shop, and eat. Marcia is a super host! Excellent cook, and she offered us so many options and personal experiences of the local activities. Her heart is in her home, and it shows. She also has many Amish friends and can recommend the ones who offer an Amish meal in their home.
