PODIUM STATUS 🥇🥇 Break Away Cafe is wonderful in every sense . Build for cyclists & designed by a cyclist (Nadov) with a fervor. We stepped in for coffee but got so much more. Loved the spinach pastry and other carbs on display. They also have beers & ice cream. Not to mention critical bike repair service and accessories (tires, tubes, chain, & more) My New favorite bike cafe ✅✅✅
Just noticed this new place in Washington Heights today! Combo bike + coffee shop. Had a great iced cappuccino, and there was a fun selection of pastries spanning different cultures including bureka (made in house), tostones, and sfogliatella. There are also some cold drinks for people looking for something refreshing post bike or post run (very close to GW Bridge and Fort Washington park). And it sounded like the food menu is going to expand and they are working on getting a beer license as well. Great addition to the neighborhood!
Great place for a stop on a bike ride across the GW bridge or up the west side. Healthy food, great service, excellent cycling culture!
This cafe offers exceptional service, providing a comfortable space to store bicycles, a wide selection of delectable food options, and a dedicated mechanic in the rear. Additionally, the pizza, pastries, and falafel are highly recommended. It has become my preferred destination for cycling stops. Thank you!!
Breakaway Cafe is a hidden gem with incredible flavor and a cozy vibe. The vegan falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, packed with fresh vegetables , while the sabich sandwich grilled eggplant, overnight egg fresh veggies, and tahini sauce in warm pita for a rich, satisfying bite. The shakshuka sandwich was just as impressive, with perfectly seasoned tomato sauce and eggs cooked just right, all tucked into fresh bread. To top it off, the Turkish coffee was bold, smooth, and authentically prepared, making the whole experience feel special. Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere make this spot one I’ll definitely be coming back to.
