Bon Vivant is a beautiful mountain restaurant in Telluride. When we went for lunch, the indoor area wasn’t open, but on a sunny day it’s honestly the best place on the mountain to go. The food is the best-cooked of any mountain restaurant I’ve tried — really well prepared, flavorful, and comforting. Plus, sitting in the sun feels amazing: it naturally warms you up, and they even provide sunglasses, sunscreen, and Bon Vivant hats so you’re protected from the sun. A fantastic spot for a sunny ski day.
My husband and I had the pleasure of cooking as guest chefs for a special event at this venue. WOW. It is truly an experience. While we can’t speak to the food that is served here regularly we did meet the chef and he is talented and has a great background. We can’t wait to return some day as guests
Fine dining outdoors at 11,200'. This is a world class experience. Perched at the top of Lift 5 in Telluride, this is fine dining in an unexpected place. The food, service, and atmosphere are amazing, with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. To start things off, my wife had a glass of Taittinger champagne and I had a wonderful Cotes-du-Rhone. Then she had trout, cooked to perfection, and I had wonderful beef bourguignon. And to top things off, Crepes Suzette. The staff - Luke, JD, Rosemary, and Will, went above and beyond to make our experience memorable.
We did not have a reservation for this place on the slopes with “French dining and libations”. We learned the hard way that no reservation means no real food. Plenty of empty seats apparently all reserved in the outdoor enclosed area. When we tried to order something to eat our choice was between candies and a “prosciutto sandwich” - a sorry ham and cheese on a soggy hero wrapped in a plastic film - something one expects to find at a gas station! The view was indeed spectacular.
The French Onion Soup needed more salt. Service was good. Otherwise, the food lived up to the hype. Overall a good experience, considering they are basically a food stop halfway up the mountain. You have to wait in line to make a reservation but can't ask for a specific time, so it's really first come, first served. That was a little weird.
